Introductory Note

The Occupational Health and Safety Regional Tripartite Forum (RTF) is established as a co-operative to promote occupational health and safety in the various mining regions.  The RTF is a tripartite forum with no legal status and is made up of representatives of the Department of Mineral and Energy (DMRE), employers and employees (organised Labour) from the South African Mining Industry (SAMI).

There are current 22 RTFs nationally and this has been done in to serve the different mining environments and considering distances between regions. These RTF’s are organised and controlled by a tripartite steering committee that is guided by Mine Health and Safety Council (MHSC) and meets on a regular basis.
